Home of David the Gnome

Saturday we set out on a day long hike.
The weather was beautiful. The sun was shining and there was a slight bite in the air.
It felt like fall.

Everything was so green.

Frozen water.
Beaver attack!

At this point in the hike Liz and I burst out into Just Around the River Bend, you know, the Pocahontas song. There is just something about being out in nature, having a wind swept face, and the sun beaming down on your face that make you want to sing!
I look once more just around the river bend

Healthy Beards...
...means a healthy forest.
Over the river and through the woods to Grandmothers house Lake Vänern we go.

The top six to ten inches of the lake were frozen and as the water underneath rippled, the sound of a beating drum filled the air providing a nice soundtrack to accompany our lovely picnic.

Skål. Hot coffee while hiking, how Swedish!
We built a lakeside fire.

Roasting soy sausages.

For dessert we made some Swedish-American S'mores.

Digestives, Marshmallows, and good quality Chocolate.
Roasting.
Photographing.

After eating lunch and siting around the fire for a while the sun was starting to go down and we decided it was best to head back home.

Across the frozen lake.
Moose poop!
I absolutely love this photo that Liz took.
