Stockholm

This past Saturday the University hosted a semi-guided tour of Stockhloms Old City for the international students. CIEE covers the cost of the excisions we take as well as the food we eat while on the excursion (lucky us!). The bus rolled out at quarter to nine on Saturday morning full of groggy students who were not quite ready to be awake. Our leader did not seem to notice, he proceeded to give us random historical facts about Uppsala and Stockholm during the hours long bus ride into the city. He was a jolly Swedish man with thick rosy cheeks, a full brown beard and that uniquely Swedish humor.
When we arrived we were dropped off at the Vasa Museum where we got to see the 17th century ship that sank in the Stockholm harbor before it even set off on its voyage. The brackish water was the perfect salinity to preserve the ship. The museum houses the whole ship as well as artifacts and human remains that were found along with it.

After the museum tour we boarded the bus and headed up to the Old City, passing by the city center/ shopping district on our way. I saw many shops I would love to browse on my next trip to Stockholm! We were let off in front of the National Palace and from there we were taken on a brief walking tour of the Old City.

The Guard has a nice view.

The inside was beautiful!

So amazing!
While I was in Stockholm I had to stop a few times, take a deep breath and just absorb everything around- I was fulfilling a life long dream. I had finally made it to the city I had dreamed of since I was 7 years old. It was a beautiful place and I can't wait to go back and explore more of the city.
