The past two weeks have been lovely! I was plucked from the hot and humid summer weather and dropped right into the heart of fall. For the first week of living in Sweden most of the days were in the lower 70's sometimes reaching into the upper 70's during peak sunlight hours. The second week became slightly cooler, reaching into the upper 60's everyday and dropping down to the mid-to-high 50's at night (lovely sleeping weather with my window open wide). The sky always seems to full of huge puffy clouds floating in a rich Swedish blue sky that seem to stretch out endlessly. It is really had to describe how amazing the sky is. It is almost like in Ithaca the clouds appear to be flat against the sky, lacking depth and body. Here on the other hand, the clouds are rich, full, and enormous and not to mention there are always many different types of clouds in the sky. These clouds are usually crisp and white until one large gray cloud will float in either in early afternoon or late afternoon and let out some rain for about 30 mins and then it floats on by. The best part about these rains showers is that although it might be raining where you are, the rest of the sky is blue and the other clouds are white so you know the rain will not stay for long. While these rain spurts weren't present everyday they did happen occasionally and I was becoming hopeful that there are no rainy days in Sweden...
...until today
I woke up this morning to the sound of rain against my window, a soothing sound to wake up to. Before I pulled up the blinds I was hopeful that this rain would fade just like it had yesterday. But to my dismay we seem to be having our first gray and rainy day here in Uppsala.
The forecast for the rest of the week indicates low 60's. Yup it's really Fall here!
As for the sunset-
I checked the sun set time in Uppsala the week before I arrived. The sun was setting around 8:45, now just two and a half weeks later the sun is setting around 7:35! That is a loss of over an hour of daylight in just two weeks!
More weather updates to come when it starts to becomes more winter-y.
Thank you, Avy! You know how much I enjoyed that!
